‘Music Matters Again’ proclaims David St.Phillips. While it suggests the work of a marketing strategist, it does offer a description of his music - warm, honest, organic sound wrapped around thought-provoking lyrics. DSP (his moniker) presents songs that make the listener think, feel and sometimes act. “My music is very much reminiscent of 70’s storytellers.” says St.Phillips, “Croce, Lightfoot, Taylor, Chapin… growing up, these artists, others like them and their music, helped me to define and explore my own developing emotions through experience. I saw myself in their songs. I felt myself in their songs. Today’s musical listeners are force-fed corporate-driven musical muck…mostly trite and hollow, often talent-less, sometimes tasteless…all sizzle
and no steak.”

Beautiful Struggle , the refreshing, relevant debut album by David St.Phillips washes over you exploring topics such as desire, conflict, neglect, homelessness, loveless-ness and loneliness - not from a soapbox - not in a rant - rather in compelling tales presented in warm hues and inviting tones. David plays most of the instruments on Beautiful Struggle and handles all of the vocal tracks. Guitarist Michael Seeholzer adds some tasty electric guitar lines throughout. Nick Koesters engineered and co-produced - Byron Nemeth mastered.

At a time when the music industry is floundering in search of some sort of direction – looking for substance - originality - honesty - civility -- David St.Phillips has taken one step back into musical time and two forward - recapturing a musical era when music was laden with themes of humanity. David St.Phillips is once-again painting musical pictures for all to enjoy, interpret and apply.
